Plugins etc. used here

These are the WordPress plugins that I’m using here:

General:

  • Language Switcher to allow the visitor to switch between German and English.
If you want to write your comments in both languages, you can do it like this:
[lang_de]Dieser Text erscheint nur bei deutscher Einstellung.[/lang_de]
[lang_en]This text only appears in English language setting.[/lang_en]
Text außerhalb erscheint immer / text outside appears always.
  • myGallery for the image galleries (incl. the random picture on the right)
  • WP-PageNavi for the better page navigation

Single posts and comments:

  • WP-Polls for the polls. ***
  • Smiley+Format Javascript Buttons: clickable smileys and format buttons for writing comments. ** ***
Based on Smiley JS Buttons; I added “more/less” links (for the many smileys whose codes can be added to the theme’s functions.php or a simple plugin) and a few simple format buttons (see comment field). I didn’t have the time yet to write a proper documentation, so, for now, just this brief description:
The original’s web page contains a guide; my modifications can be configured at the beginning of the PHP file (no admin page, sorry), and you should add suitable definitions to your theme’s stylesheet.
Download: sfjb.zip contains smiley_format_js_buttons.php, which, as usual, must be copied to the wp-content/plugins directory and then activated.
  • AJAX Comment Preview: Preview of comments with complete WordPress processing (quotes, formatting, smilies). * ***
  • WP AJAX Edit Comments: Commentators can edit their comments for a certain time to correct typos etc. * ***
  • Subscribe To Comments Reloaded offers commentators the option of e-mail notification when more comments are added. *
  • The directly included functionality of Gravatar shows the commenters’ pictures that they have registered with Gravatar.com.
  • ag Moderate Some Comments, my own plugin to force moderation of all comments on some selected posts.
  • Wockers Comment-Name-Check *
  • DoFollow: Disable the “nofollow” tagging for comments.
  • Enhanced Simple Spoiler can make text to be shown/hidden by the user (e.g. “show translation”). ***
  • Antispam Bee and NoSpamNX as spam protection.
  • WP-UserAgent for the icons that show browser and operating system of the commentator.
  • Statistics:

    • WP-PostViews enables you to display how many times a post/page had been viewed. ** ***
    • Search Phrases registers and displays the search phrases that took users to this blog. *
    • Feed Statistics shows subscriber and post statistics.
    • FeedStats shows total feed requests.

    Other:

    • Better Feed can e.g. include a footer with copyright in the RSS feeds.
    • Font Awesome provides some symbols (Home, Twitter, speech bubbles etc.)

    * With my adaptions for translation
** With more adaptions/modifications by me
*** requires visitor to have JavaScript enabled

If you want my modifications, you can have them on request until I publish them “properly” in the future.

Other functions which are no plugins but directly integrated into the theme:

    • The recent search phrases are displayed via a function that can add text to the output depending on the post’s numerical ID.
    • Many smilies are from Kolobok.
    • Increase/decrease size of comment input field with simple Javascript links.
    • And several others…

You want to know more about it? Just ask!

All inputs are optional. The e-mail address won't be published nor shared.

    • Moderation: Comments from first-time commentators must be approved manually before they appear.
    • Behave yourself! No insults, no illegal content, etc.! Should go without saying, don't you agree...?
    • Website: I don't mind blogs with ads, but purely commercial links are not welcome and will be deleted. Just like pure spam comments.
    • E-mail notification on new comments: You will have to activate this function once with a link in an automatically sent confirmation mail. These notifications can be disabled again with the link in every mail, of course.
    • Twitter: If you got a Twitter account, you can enter your Twitter name (with or without the @, doesn't matter) which will then be displayed next to any comment (including old ones) that contain the same e-mail address. (Which also means that you must fill in that e-mail field.)
    • Your own image (avatar)? Register at Gravatar.com with your e-mail address and upload an image – this will appear here and on many other blogs (as long as you specify your e-mail address here, of course).
    • Allowed HTML tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <s> <strike> <strong> <big> <small> <u>
