Projekt 52/30: Heavenly

The next topic of Projekt 52

A little day off at a lake is about as heavenly as the nearly cloudless sky1, and so I got three panoramic images (not heavenly perfect, unfortunately) for you that I took at the Starnberger See (stitched together with Hugin).

You see all photos (assuming the browsers do it right…) first cramped into the post width, then with a scroll bar.

Number 1 shows Rose Island:

The second one is from Possenhofen:

And finally at Starnberg:

  1. works better in German: Himmel means both heaven and sky []

Projekt 52/29 und Rock’n’Picture 6:
10,000 Superhero Fists

“Superheroes” is the topic of Sari’s Projekt 52, andi Juli’s Rock’n’Picture is about “10,000 Fists” by Disturbed… Superman is known for his outstretched fist during flying… hmmm, that’s something that I could combine…

29: Superheroes

Topic 29: Superheroes

My Superman army – their fists are seen from behind, thus they are in front of me, their leader – 10,000 men, about 8400 of them theoretically visible here…

Or in this case: Something small looking large, the withered blossom of a spathiphyllum, photographed with a retro adaptor which lets you mount a lens in reverse to achieve a great magnification (these photos show the entire image area – the petal is just about 1½cm in total – ans have just been resized for web-suitability).

But we can go even larger:

The same blossom from the side, even more magnified.

That’s a still good-looking petal:

Projekt 52/27: Forces of Nature

Topic 27: Forces of nature

In thunderstormy times like this (even if they often seem to avoid the city of Pfaffenhofen), this topic makes one think of thunderstorms, of course, and so this strange cloud formation yesterday appeared to be a good motif vor this week’s project – who knows what came from it… but with wind from the west and being southwest of the cloud, nothing happened here. :)

Unfortunately it’s just a (cropped) cellphone photo, didn’t have anything better on me.

In late May, it was a little more vehement:

Projekt 52/26: Math around you

The next topic of Projekt 52

26: Math around you

Topic 26: Math around you

Math is everywhere, from the construction of the house I’m in to the craftsman’s bill for my desk and the computer below it, to the symmetries in flowers and the weather forecast, to the rainbow and the sunset, from the quarks to the universe itself; it’s the foundation of many branches of science. You can’t escape math1– no-one demands you calculate everything yourself and know all formulae, but ignoring it completely would also mean to ignore many intrinsic beauties of nature.

And so I used the program Foto-Mosaik-Edda to create a mosaic of Earth (Blue Marble image from Nasa) – my surroundings on a cosmic scale – from numerous of my photos of Pfaffenhofen – my surroundings on an earthly scale – (with the original overlayed at 25% intensity). And yes, this process requires some math too…

  1. though I can see why one would like to do so with the bills and taxes one has to pay ;) []
