Red leaves, green leaves, 50mm and a gardener

And there’s a “1.4” to go with the “50mm”, since this is about my new lens, the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM.

First test object, especially to compare the depths of focus, was my greening Christmas star (poinsettia), the longevity of which I wrote about here in late February, here first with maximum aperture of 1.4:

And with aperture 8:

If you’re interested: On this gallery page I’ve got seven more aperture steps.

Fresh green and more

…’cause there are other colors, too…

Mirrored in the river, the clouds look much more threatening:

Projekt 52 week 14: The sun sets

The topic of week 14 in Sari’s photo Projekt 52:

The sun sets

Ever since I’m participating in this project, I occasionally come across motifs of which I think they’d fit this or that topic which surely will show up some time – I shot this photo in late January to have it “on stock”, so I don’t regard this as cheating, by the way.

Especially since it’s questionable in these rather dull days if you get to see a proper sunset…

Furthermore, after reaching into the archives, I got a second image I want to show you:

Sunset in Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline.

In my Montreux 2006 gallery, there are also two photos with the Freddie Mercury statue:
