I shouldn’t listen to any more news today…

…because already since the morning, they always talk about the exciting countdown for publishing the name for Nürnberg’s polar bear baby – and even as first, i.e. alledgedly most important news message. And a few days ago, it was always “it opened its eyes today for the first time, first the left eye, then the right.” Aaargh!

Not that I’d be averse to polar bears or animal babies (or both), or against people who outright love them, but must there be always all that fuss about them??

Projekt 52: Week 1–3

Projekt 52 Sari at Mondgras has started a nice photo (or drawing) project: Projekt 52 which is about shooting a (new!) photo about a given topic.

Read more (in German) at Sari’s general infotopic overview with photo links – all participants.

Since I didn’t enter right away, here are three photos at once:

Week 1: The new year

A calendar (a small one, since it’s just one year out of many) in bright sunshine, may the year be as bright…

A yellow pages site is begging for backlinks

Well, they’d give some in return, unlike a elsewhere a few months ago (German). Quote from the mail (my translation):

“You receive this e-mail because you have been registered in our yellow pages site web2.cylex.de for some time now.

…but not voluntarily…

We’d like to offer you one or two backlinks as long as you set one of the following link to us:

<a href=”http://web2.cylex.de”>Branchenbuch</a>
<a href=”http://www.cylex-telefonbuch.de”>Telefonbuch</a>
<a href=”http://www.cylex-review.com”>Firmenbewertung</a>

[…]
The address of your homepage is already stored in your file, however the link is currently not treated as such by search engines (masked with Javascript). If a link exchange is accomplished, the link will be demasked by us and considered a real backlink by the search engines.
[…]

If you don’t want to receive further e-mails from us, please open the page […] to unsubscribe.

I never wanted e-mails from them, because I have never been in this yellow pages site which apparently is filled automatically from who knows what sources.

Thank you for your attention,

Your IKM Team

Since even if there are loads of useful entries in this cylex yellow pages site (ignoring a readability with needs for improvement thanks to USAGE OF CAPITAL LETTERS in some places), I’m sure that there must be numerous useless ones, too, because:

  • 2005, I was listed with an old private address that had been invalid for years, mixed up with phone number and description from some company.
    :dunce:
  • Late 2006 (I wrote about it here), they offered a free route description for the entry that this is about now, too: the private site of my Abitur class (German kind of university-entrance diploma) (rmg91.de), entered as company “RMG 91 CHARAKTERISTIK” with my current private address (without my name).
    :lol2:
For “keywords, field of company’s activity”, their bot didn’t find anything more, so they just repeated the assumed company name.

Update: You’ve got to hand it to them that they reacted to my mail within less than 45 minutes and removed this entry. :applaus:

Results of blog carnival “Music of the Year 2007”

Blog carnival Music of the Year 2007 My blog carnival “Music of the Year 2007” is closed – thanks to all 16 participants.

:danke:

I had asked:

  • Your song of the year?
  • Your album of the year?
  • Your live concert of the year?
(Alternatively, if you weren’t at a noteworthy concert: Live album/DVD of the year.)

Preferrably, it should be new releases of 2007, but if you came across something older and like that more than any new stuff, that’s also okay. :)

Quite varying music tastes have shown up – partly even at the same blogger – and even though I personally don’t like all of the mentioned music, it was actually interesting to listen to the songs and albums that were mentioned (some linked directly, some via YouTube searches etc.).

I can’t really create a hit list – but there were two clear winners:

  • Timbaland: 3½x with “Apologize” as best song, 1½x “Shock Value” as best album;
  • Genesis: the “Turn It On Again” tour was mentioned 5x (though not visited 5x).

I might create a special award to send to these two, but I think they’d laugh at me at best.

Following is the alphabetical list of all participants – some mentioned more than one, some runners-up (in fine print, which caused the “half” counts above). On the bloggers’ posts (all German), there are sometimes also links to videos or homepages and explanations:

Music Quiz 5

Which two song lyric lines are described by these smilies?

1 2   3 4 5

And what’s the name of the song?

Yes, maybe that is hard – on the other hand, maybe someone instantly knows the answer…

Additional question (since I’m a Queen fan): What’s this song’s connection with Queen?

The solution, found by kanpeki:

There’s room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill

from “Working Class Hero” by John Lennon.

Covered by Queen drummer Roger Taylor on his album “Electric Fire”.

Thanks for participating!
