At least, somehow “G-string/thong” and “biohazard warning sign” crossed my mind when I looked at the fractal title of the latest edition (1/08) of the magazine Spektrum der Wissenschaft (German edition of Scientific American)…:
The magazine itself – which I’ve been reading for many years now – is, of course, more serious and respectable and much less crazy than my thoughts sometimes are. And more worth reading. 
There must be a better way to write payment notes (with existing direct debiting authorization!) on invoices that this:
Translation:
“Please always use the prepared transfer form for payment (see top left)!
Total amount will be directly debited from your account.”
As you know, there are laws in many countries forbidding the circumvention of copy protection/
Wellington Grey now has a nice little presentation about the consequences of applying this stupidity to physical objects instead of media data, with the example of a CD-ROM sleave’s silly seal, the breaking of which would result in accepting the contract that’s contained on the CD inside…

Quite mean to use such trash to pull the money out of the pockets of possibly desparate people. If, then, coincidence helps, they’ll even more believe in “remote magic” and similar nonsense – and if nothing happens, that gypsy surely has prepared some excuses.
Why now does that remind me of yesterday’s post about prayers (German, with video in English) at “Begrenzte Wissenschaft” (=”limited science”)…?
