At least, somehow “G-string/thong” and “biohazard warning sign” crossed my mind when I looked at the fractal title of the latest edition (1/08) of the magazine Spektrum der Wissenschaft (German edition of Scientific American)…:

The magazine itself – which I’ve been reading for many years now – is, of course, more serious and respectable and much less crazy than my thoughts sometimes are. And more worth reading. ;)

Global Scaling Event… or Someone speak Turkish?

I’m looking for information about the so-called “Global Scaling Event of the year” that took place on 1 Dec in Berlin, alledgedly presenting a new invention for secure data transmission (GSPIN) – and about which there’s hardly anything to find. (Which doesn’t have to be bad, actually…) The general Głobal Scaling site still shows the announcement; the dubious company’s site on morint.com = GSDI Cyprus Ltd. reports in the News from 6 Dec (German; the beginning seems to have been lost somehow) the following (my translation):

“The over 300 participants positively felt the crackling excitement when they witnessed the experiment. On a big screen, everybody could see that in Berlin and Nicosia the same security code was generated.”

I, personally, think that you can project a lot onto a screen… As long as it hasn’t been reliably verified and approved by independent scientists that indeed this technology created these codes as has been claimed, I got my doubts. And I think folks who offer a lotto prognosis deserve no trust in advance whatsoever, anyway.

Other than that, Google finds with GSPIN Berlin and GSDI Cyprus Berlin – thanks to the company’s location and aforementioned partcipation in Northern Cyprus – only several Turkish reports, e.g. Kibris Gazetesı, Mercek TV, TurkEkip, who look as like as two peas in a pod, which leads to the suspicion that they are just press releases from the GSDI company (from 1 Dec) which, of course, praise their own technology to the skies. (Another, not identical article: BRT.)

Since neither Google nor Altavista can translate Türkisch, and the attempt to translate word by word with online dictionaries is both cumbersome and error-prone as well as seems to confirm the praise to the skies, I’m asking, as the title shows, if you know Turkish and can have a look at the links above and tell me (in the comments here) what exactly they say – if it’s more than the typical press release blah-blah… (you don’t need to make a full translation, of course :mrgreen: ).

And does anyone maybe know actual eye-witness reports, preferrably critical ones?

The fairy-tale of calculating lotto numbers

clover Sorry for writing about lotto again, I’m kinda annoyed by that topic too, but since there are people who believe that future lotto drawings could be calculated – like one here in the comments (in German), who kindly provided some details when I asked him by e-mail, thanks a lot – I consider it quite appropriate to go into that.

So this is Mr Galluzzo’s comment, translated by me:

So if you make it more precisely, you would have to give away many details, and who gives anything away would be quite stupid.
You can only learn something if you’re playing yourself.

You don’t have to play lotto in order to look at the numbers, and you can learn without spending money on false hopes, too.

:dunce: One could also learn by e.g. attending a course or buying/renting a book about “Probability calculation for beginners.” Isn’t there one in the “for dummies” series (whose title is never intended to offend…)?

I think that you are no player, if you were a player with experience, you wouldn’t write such stupid stuff, I already said that.

Oh, yes, the biiig secrets and experiences of “experts”, yeah, sure. As if that would change anything about no lotto drawing depending of the preceding drawings.

“Lotto prediction” with numerology?

Well, thanks to the high jackpot in Germany, that topic is popular – number 1 also in my search request statistics (after my fun post about certain pantiless antics got kicked out of Google’s index [for a few days]). And some enlightenment can’t hurt… in brief:

Lotto numbers cannot be predicted!

More precisely: If your predicted numbers are drawn, that’s just coincidence, because the drawings are random. Those who claim otherwise, please try to prove it…

I came across another specimen of prognoses on miracles.ch (German) – based on “numerology” (Wikipedia article). Or what’s been made to look like it. In addition to horoscope-like spesifications based on date of birth etc. and “lucky numbers” derived from the name you enter (1 for A, 2 for B,… 26 for Z :roll: ), this site with a web design from the last millennium also offers a “lotto number prognosis” for German and Swiss lotto. Quote (my translation, trying to reproduce spelling mistakes ;) ):

The Lotto Miracles Predition, is unique and Fantastic. Here you can have your personal and current lottonumber prognosis according to numerology generated every week and again and again new Miracles Lottonumber prognoses for the next Lotto 6/49 drawings.
